Supercluster

Supercluster was formed in 2007 by Pylon singer Vanessa Briscoe Hay.  Hay recruited a number of experienced Athens musicians for the group, including Pylon guitarist Randy Bewley and Squalls founder Bob Hay (Vanessa’s husband).  The lineup changes a bit from time to time, but usually includes 8 or 9 members.  They describe their musical style as “Appalachian Wave”.

Tragedy struck the band while recording their first album in 2009; Randy Bewley died after suffering a heart attack while driving.  Production of the album was put on hold, but the band ultimately decided to finish it, said Hay, “so that some of Randy's last work would be available.”  The album, called Waves, was released in late 2009 to positive reviews.

Supercluster is still writing, recording, and touring.  Their most recent work is a single released in 2011.

I Got The Answer

A single released in 2011, this song was written by The Side Effects (another Athens band featured here), in 1980.
