Tony Pritchett



Not all Athens groups were rock-n-roll.  The Tony Pritchett Band was a mainstay in town, playing mostly country standards.  Having been transplanted in Athens from northern Indiana, I didn’t know much country music back then.  The first time I heard “Redneck Mother” was courtesy of the Tony Pritchett Band.   

Today Tony’s band is called Sons of Sailors, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band.  They play concerts and events throughout the Southeast - and even Caribbean cruises, according to their website. They still play Athens from time to time.
